I’ve been wanting to start a blog for a long time. I even once told my thesis advisor about the idea (not sure if he remembers, haha). But honestly, I’m a bit of a procrastinator—so I kept putting it off. 😅
That was until I realized I needed a portfolio to land a job. At least that’s what someone on my TikTok FYP said (and, well, they weren’t wrong). So I finally did it: I built my blog using Astro. It’s super beginner-friendly, even for someone like me who’s still learning JavaScript.
“Death ends a life, not a relationship.”
— Mitch Albom, Tuesdays with Morrie
But the real spark for writing came from a book: Tuesdays with Morrie. I read it just before graduation, during a crowded afternoon bus ride. I was sitting near the priority seats when a middle-aged woman got on, and someone quickly stood up to let her sit. In that small pause, a stranger leaned over with a smile and asked, “Baca Mitch Albom ya, teh?”
We ended up talking for the rest of the ride. She told me she had read the book ten years ago and shared her love for authors like Paulo Coelho (The Alchemist, of course). That random bus conversation stayed with me—it reminded me how stories and books can connect people in the most unexpected ways. We still keep in touch today, through Instagram and WhatsApp.👍🏻
So here I am, finally starting this blog (and my Medium page). I want to use it to document my life, share photos, capture little lessons, and maybe write something that resonates with someone else. I’m aiming to write more regularly—maybe twice a month to start. Writing has been a way for me to process my thoughts and experiences, and I want to keep getting better at it.
Thank you for reading, and I hope this becomes a monthly routine. Cheers! ✨
